10/10 the best food I've ever had in Austin. Everything I had was delicious from the guacamole to the ceviche. I also had each of the tacos on the menu (thank you to my friends for being nice and sharing). I also had a very delicious watermelon drink and couple of the micheladas, I can still taste it from miles away lol. Unfortunately I did not write down our waiters name but he was incredible! All I remember is that he had cool tattoos on his neck and some very nice glasses.
The service was great and the food was delicious! The queso fundido was so good! Definitely recommend!
I've been here twice so far and loved both visits. Ambience is especially great when it gets a little later and they turn down the lights. I have only been around HH time and it wasn't too busy so cannot speak to how it is later in the evening. The Desert Rose cocktail is excellent, a little bit of a spiced flavor that compliments the hibiscus. HH tacos are a great deal (4 total) and the quesabirria is a cheesy dream, I just wish there were 4 pieces instead of 2. My friend had the mole enchiladas and loved them. I also like their chips; they are thick and have a nice plain corn flavor without too much salt. I heard some grumbling an about the service when they first opened but I feel every server I've had has been attentive and friendly and have no complaints. Go check it out!! I'll definitely be back!
Edited: I decided to give the restaurant another try and I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service. Restaurant has made great strides to improve the quality about the food and the service and it shows. I'll definitely be back soon. To be honest, I wasn't Blown Away by the food nor the service- especially for the price. The atmosphere is upscale and trendy. The enchiladas were good, but a little greasy. The margarita was a little too sweet for my taste.
Made our way here after a trip to the zoo. My boyfriend is vegan so we rolled the dice on trying this place out as their menu has no vegan options listed. Luckily our waitress, was able to ask the kitchen about vegan options. He grabbed the veggie tacos (no mushrooms as those are mixed with cheese) & side of beans. She mentioned the beans were recently change so they are now vegan friendly. The rice unfortunately not an option for him but all good. We are happy he had a full entree to enjoy! We also enjoyed the guacamole and salsa platter. I am not vegan and ordered the agua chiles which were my favorite. As well as the chile relleno. Happy to have found a place to accommodate his dietary restriction while I can enjoy my non vegan foods. Space is nice with option of outdoor seating. will need to come back for dinner to enjoy a cocktail.
My husband loves Mexican food and this is probably his favorite spot here! We're not fan of texmex and this place is from Mexico City, so we were intrigued. We like the modern vibe and the food is great. Service has always been excellent. We've eaten here a handful of times and have enjoyed -chips and salsa flight -nachos -queso fundito -steak fajita -shrimp fajita
So excited to check out this spot in Austin Tx! My son made a reservation for 5:30pm we arrived right on time in spite of the traffic. Once we entered I immediately noticed (it was a full house and loud)! It was difficult for us to hear the hostess and each other. Once seated I noticed the beautiful bar area and other seating which may have been better to carry a conversation. We were excited to look at menu so remained in our seats. The waitress came around and again it was hard to hear her and she spoke pretty fast. She was very nice and patient as we tried to ask questions before ordering. To our surprise it was still happy hour so I ordered off that menu. I chose the tacos and beans and rice... had to get the churros...hubby got the ribeye enchiladas. I didn't get anything to drink beside water which came in a beautiful serving glass pitcher and small glasses. Hubby got the tequila and beer. First let me say the shot glass was a nice size and the tequila was not as smooth as I like but good.. again it wasn't my drink but my hubby enjoyed the beer. Other guests enjoyed their margarita! The first food on our table was the guacamole and then came the churros. I wanted it at the end of meal but baby .. desert came first today! The churros was everything delicious . When I finished I was ready to go but later came the entree, the tacos! I won't complain they looked pretty was my first thought and secondly "where's the meat"? The chicken was tasty but more cilantro and lettuce for my liking! Overall it's a great happy hour place! If the weather would have been better I'd prefer to sit outside to talk and be more leisurely. I swear I heard the table next to me whole conversation he was talking so loud! I gave it four stars it's a great beautiful place. I'd come back but again only for happy hour! The dinner menu looked amazing and the prices are average for this level of service and food. Check them out!
I got to try La Papar for a friends birthday dinner. There was plenty of parking so I really appreciated that! We were also a larger party of eight and we're able to make reservations ahead of time so make sure you check that out on the website or call in advance if you have a large group. I always love a salsa and chip appetizer at Mexican restaurants and they delivered on that here! Our table had a nice serving of salsa and chips. For my meal, I tried the tacos with prawns. They had a great flavor and a nice little kick at the end. It comes with a side of rice and beans. If you have a big appetite, keep in mind that is two small tacos in the dish. If there was one more added to the plate, i think it really would've made a nice and more filling meal. I also had the Perla's to drink, and it was very nice and tasty with the little zing from the Taheen so I definitely recommend trying that out! Overall, this was a great place to try. It's NBA playoff season, so they had the game playing around the bar. It's a nice place to go out for a nice night out or if you want a more relaxed vibe it fits that too. They allowed my friend to bring in her birthday cheesecake, which was also a bonus. Our server also provided candles for the cake.
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this place! My friends and I decided to stop by after dinner in search of some digestifs, and we were not disappointed. The cocktails were simply outstanding, so much so that we ended up staying for some small bites as well. The guacamole was a standout, boasting excellent flavor and freshness. Additionally, the flight of four salsas -- avocado salsa verde, salsa lorenza, salsa toreado, and salsa llorona -- was a delightful treat, each offering a unique and satisfying taste. The cocktails truly stole the show with their innovative flavors and impeccable execution. For those who enjoy a smoky profile, I highly recommend trying the Forbidden Paradise Mule and the Count Diablo. Our server was incredibly attentive and engaging, enhancing our overall dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was chic and inviting. While it may be a bit off the beaten path, the journey of approximately 10 miles out of town is undoubtedly worth it for the exceptional experience offered here.
¡Delicioso! We were able to get seated immediately with no reservation on a Monday evening. Got started with Ahi Tuna tostadas-they are very good! Love the tuna of course and the leek crisps. I just wish the portion size was bigger. Tacos are great! Sauce really goes well with the prawns. The refried beans/rice is alright. Quesabirria is really good and I would get it again! It's my first time having this and it's a fun twist on a quesadilla. Great portion and each bite is flavorful. The tres leches is one of the best I've had in Austin! The caramel on top makes it very fragrant. I love it!!
